1. Walk one hour every day

Everybody knows that sport is good for your health, but committing to a daily sport routine is easier said than done for most of us. But every small step is better than nothing. And in time, every small step leads to a higher resistance and a better performance. Did you know that just walking can have a positive impact on health? A 1-hour walk at a normal pace, or a 30-minute brisk walk session can even lower the bad cholesterol levels in your body. Where to start? 

Here are 5 easy tips to become more active:

Walk to the supermarket.

Take the stairs instead of the elevator.

Get off the bus one station earlier and walk the remaining distance.

Go on longer walks with your family, friends, or your pet.

Walk around when you are talking on the phone instead of sitting.

 

2. Consume more water 

Sometimes we don’t even notice that a whole day goes by without us drinking (enough) water. Here are a few tips to avoid getting dehydrated:

Flavour your water with raspberries, blueberries, or any other berries, lemon, lime, or flavourful herbs like mint or basil, or even fresh cucumber.

Associate drinking a glass of water with different moments of the day. For example when you wake up in the morning, when you get home from work or school, etc.

Hold your water in a (graded) receptacle so that you can keep track of how much water you drank in a day.

3. Reduce plastic waste

If you are not a fan of tap water, we get it. But instead of buying water in plastic bottles, use a filter cane or even install a filter on your tap. You can also opt for glass bottles that you can reuse later.

Also, avoid fruit or vegetables wrapped in plastic, or other products with unnecessary plastic packaging, and opt for recycled, sustainable materials whenever possible.

4. Eat clean, natural food

Eating healthy means a balanced diet that gives your body the necessary elements it needs to function correctly. No matter which diet you follow – whether based on a medical condition or on your own preferences – the foods you consume should be clean, pure, and without harmful chemical substances. Don’t forget your body is your most valuable “possession” and it deserves the best.

 

5. Do a random act of kindness

A good deed often doesn’t mean too much effort for the one who does it, but it can mean a lot for the one who receives it! Simply giving a call to that friend who is going through a hard time, or to your grandparents who sit alone at home will make their day better.

Do charity work when you can, or simply buy some food for a stranger in need.

6. Plan a get-together with friends or family

Hosting a get-together with your dear ones is a great opportunity to have fun and strengthen bonds. Inviting them over for dinner can improve your relationship and build memories that you’ll remember for a long time – for inspiration, check out our amazing recipes. Having dinner together gives everybody present the possibility to interact in a cosy, familiar environment, and talk about their day, issues, or even just general conversation. This might help you to understand your loved ones better and enhance your communication abilities. Eating alongside loved ones and friends can lead to improved mental health outcomes, such as less stress and anxiety. Regular meals with loved ones may foster a sense of community and support, which is good for your mental health.

 

7. Go to bed early

Setting a regular bedtime can help your body’s internal clock stay in check, which can enhance the quality of your sleep. As a result, you would feel more rested and energetic during the day.

Sleep deprivation has also been linked to chronic disorders including diabetes, heart disease, and obesity. You can lower the risk of developing these diseases and ensure that you receive adequate sleep by going to bed early. A generally recommended time to go to bed is 10 pm.

Getting enough sleep is also crucial for maintaining good mental health. Getting to bed at 10pm might help you feel better and be less stressed, and it can also improve concentration, creativity, and productivity.
